Terms of Service & Privacy Policy

What this is
Novo Emergency ID's core product -- creating and managing your own emergency card -- is free, open-source, and provided as-is, as a public good under the Novo Consulting brand. Bulk tag purchases for schools and organizations are a separate paid service; see "Bulk tag purchases" below.
What this is not
This is not a medical device, not a guaranteed service, and not a substitute for medical-alert jewelry or emergency services. There is no uptime SLA, no professional monitoring, and no liability for missed or delayed emergency contact notification.
Bulk tag purchases
Schools and organizations can buy a batch of tags in bulk. Orders are processed through Stripe, and the price is shown at checkout before you pay. Once payment completes, your claim codes and printable labels are generated automatically. Bulk tag purchases arefinal and non-refundable. If you have a question about an order, email contact@novoconsultinginc.com.
Data we store
- Account: Your email address and name (via Better Auth)
- Cards: Names, contact info, medical details you enter — stored in Cloudflare D1 (encrypted at rest)
- Photos: If uploaded, stored in Cloudflare R2 and scanned for CSAM before serving
- Scan logs: Anonymous timestamp and coarse location (country/city) when someone views your card
What we never do
- We never sell, share, or monetize your data
- We never use your data for advertising or tracking
- We never share data with third parties except as required by law
- We never store precise geolocation — only country and city from Cloudflare's edge
Public card pages
Card pages are public but unlisted. Anyone with the URL can view the information you've chosen to make visible. The URL is an unguessable 12-character string. Pages are marked noindex so they don't appear in search engines. You control which fields are visible via per-field privacy toggles.
Your rights
- Export: Download all your data at any time from Account Settings
- Delete: Permanently delete your account and all data from Account Settings
- Revoke access: Remove co-guardians or caregivers at any time from the card edit page
Children's photos
Student cards may include photos of minors. Photos are uploaded by the parent/guardian who owns the account, are scanned through Cloudflare's CSAM Scanning Tool before serving, and are stored encrypted in R2. We take this seriously — CSAM is blocked and reported.
Contact verification
Emergency contacts with email addresses may receive a one-time verification email confirming they're still reachable. They can ignore the email if they don't wish to be listed. Verification links expire after 7 days.
Reminders
We send periodic "review your card" emails (roughly every 6 months) to help keep emergency information current. These go to the card owner only.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and notify account holders by email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
